Virtual Beer Tasting Wed 4/8 - Belgians

In these extraordinary times, with all of us sheltering-in-place and trying hard to limit the spread of the covid-19 respiratory illness, Jeff Whelpley and I halted our monthly BJCP workshops, focused on sensory perceptions, beer evaluation and styles.  Yesterday, one of the participants in those workshops, Daniel Morales, asked if we would consider a virtual tasting session, over the interwebz.  Both Jeff and I thought that would be a fun experiment!

We're going to get together via Zoom on Wednesday night April 8th from 7:30 - 8:30 pm and taste two Belgian style beers - a Dubbel and a Golden Strong.  We hadn't gotten to Belgians yet in our workshops.  We'll go over Belgian beers in general, talk about these styles in particular, and then discuss the beers using the BJCP's rubric of aroma, appearance, flavor, mouthfeel and overall impression.

We'll be tasting Lo Rez's two canned Belgian-style beers, Double and Daeman.  If you drive, order ahead online and use their safety-first pick up service.  If you don't drive, let me know and I'll see about arranging a delivery for you.

If you want to join us Wednesday night, email me at jim@singingboysbrewing.com so we can send you the Zoom meeting link.

Besides relieving our isolation a little bit, and tasting and talking beer, this is also a way for us to support local breweries while they are closed to the public.  If this first virtual tasting works out, we'll do another one, featuring a different local brewery and styles.

Questions, concerns?  Send me an email.  Hope to 'see' you Wednesday night!

Jim
